STELLAR DESIGNS is a Canadian-based company, created by
“Stellar Sisters”; CHERYL LASHEK (right) and ALISON KERR (left)
The girls never imagined their lives as exciting as they are today! Not many people can say that they love their job, but these girls sure can. In fact, they’d say it’s “Stellar”!!!
As many young girls did, the sisters first started making jewelry in an effort to satisfy their accessory addiction, without breaking the bank! But what sounded like a great idea in theory caused the exact opposite effect. Instead of saving money, the girls were spending their entire pay cheques at their local bead store! But it was a good thing…because it was their original style of wire jewelry that caught the eyes of friends, and family. And it was those friends and family who encouraged the girls to take the plunge and register their little gem of a hobby as an official business.
Although the girls have technical backgrounds; Cheryl’s education is in Engineering, while Alison’s is in Finance, they both agreed that designing and making jewelry was the perfect medium to channel their creative energy, while being able to spend time with their best friends…each other!
And so off they went…In 2003, the girls officially went into business as Stellar Designs! Excited that their new found passion might actually become a real-life job, they turned their family room into a “factory”! Evenings were spent creating their original style of wire jewelry, and the weekends and holidays, took them on the road to craft shows and fairs. The exposure of their innovative designs meant that Stellar jewelry was finding it’s way onto fingers and around the necks of trendy fashionistas everywhere!
It wasn’t until they began selling their jewelry to shops and boutiques, that the girls realized that Stellar Designs was quite a success!
Although it is managed solely by Cheryl and Alison, Stellar Designs finds itself as a blossoming and rapidly expanding company. Their dedicated hands-on approach guarantees high quality jewelry, affordable prices, and most importantly, allows them to personally interact with their customers.
Today the girls continue grow their brand and travel the country together to explore new markets.
Cheryl and Alison are constantly creating new pieces, and are inspired by virtually everything and everyone, especially each other! Their high-energy, fun-going personalities are addictive, and it reflects in their jewelry designs! You can’t help but believe them when they say…
